In discussion with the client, each of our practitioners will complete a thorough history related to your injury, perform an appropriate physical examination and then determine a specific treatment plan to achieve your required goals.

Physiotherapy

With several APA Sports Physiotherapists and Pilates qualified Physiotherapists on staff you will benefit from state of the art management of your sports injuries. This includes a thorough initial assessment, accurate diagnosis, an individualised rehabilitation program (utilising our on-site gymnasium) and a graduated return to sport exercise program, to enable an efficient and successful return to your sporting demands. In order to achieve this, physiotherapy services may include the appropriate provision of:

  • soft tissue mobilisation (massage)
  • dry needling
  • joint mobilisation / manipulation
  • muscle stretching
  • muscle strengthening / conditioning, including core stability & swiss ball exercises
  • proprioceptive / balance exercises
  • biomechanical assessment & correction of movement
  • sports strapping & bracing
  • graduated & progressive return to sport rehabilitation programs
  • ergonomic assessment & posture correction

A referral from your general practitioner is not required to see one of our physiotherapists.

Orthopaedic Surgeons

Balmain Sports Medicine has a team of three orthopaedic surgeons with extensive experience and a special interest in sports injuries. Each of the surgeons provide a comprehensive orthopaedic service for all conditions within their speciality (ie, shoulder, wrist, knee and ankle), to develop a treatment plan that is tailored for each individual athlete's needs.

This will often involve liaising with our sports physicians and physiotherapists in managing the injury and the rehabilitation if surgery is required.

Sports Physicians

Sports physicians specialise in the treatment and management of sporting injuries, from the recreational to the elite athlete, by combining their musculoskeletal and medical knowledge with the pathophysiology of injuries, to provide optimal long term care to the athlete.

This will often involve liaising with the referring doctor / physiotherapist and the organisation of high quality investigations, to provide a comprehensive evaluation and enable an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.

Podiatry

Podiatrists are dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of lower limb biomechanical-related injuries in both the sporting and general population.

A referral from your general practitioner or physiotherapist is not required to see one of our podiatrists.

Pilates

At Balmain Sports Medicine, Rozelle we provide 'studio-based pilates';

which ensures individualised sessions and quality instruction from a Physiotherapist or qualified Pilates Instructor using specialised equipment (Reformer, Cadillac / Trapeze, Wunda Chair, Ultra Sound and small equipment). A thorough assessment is undertaken prior to commencing Pilates using the Ultra Sound machine, to ensure your abdominals and pelvic floor are recruited during exercises. A specific program can then be developed to meet your bodies needs.

Massage Therapy
